MLS side Minnesota United have approached Manchester United’s Eric Ramsay for their vacant head coach position, dealing a blow to Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag. Ramsay, 31, is Minnesota’s top target ahead of the 2024 season and his appointment would make him the youngest head coach in the league’s history.
According to The Athletic, a deal hasn’t been struck yet but both parties are working toward an agreement, with Ramsey still contracted to Man Utd. Ramsay has worked under several managers at Old Trafford, first joining the Red Devils as a player development and set-piece coach under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Ramsey also worked under the temporary stewardship of Ralf Rangnick but saw his importance grow under the current manager, Ten Hag. The coach also has experience at the international level having been part of Rob Page’s Welsh set-up as assistant coach before stepping away from the role last fall.
Ramsey also held a position at Chlesea as an U23 assistant coach at Chelsea with his experience landing him on Blackpool’s shortlist a year ago but he decided to stay put. Swansea City were also keen on Ramsey to be named Michael Duff’s successor last December. He is also fluent in Spanish.
