Ousmane Dembele ‘open to joining Newcastle’ with Barcelona man set to be a free agent next summer

Ousmane Dembele ‘open to joining Newcastle and has been offered a five-year £12.6m to join the Premier League outfit’ with Barcelona forward set to be a free agent at the end of the season

Life after Steve Bruce at Newcastle United could begin with the signing of Ousmane Dembele, according to reports.

Goal claim that the Barcelona forward is open to joining the Magpies next summer – with his future at the Spanish giants very much unclear.

The France international is yet to agree terms on a new contract at the Nou Camp and his current deal expires at the end of the season.

After hitting an impasse over his contract talks, there is a growing sense that the forward could seek pastures new.

And according to reports in Spain, Newcastle could be one possible destination with Dembele’s agent supposedly in talks about his client potentially moving to St. James’ Park.

It is claimed that Dembele will be given a five-year deal worth £12.6million to move to Tyneside as well as a further £12.6m bonus.

Newcastle are set to be big spenders over the next transfer windows following the completion of a £305million takeover from a Saudi Arabian-led takeover earlier this month.

If Dembele did leave on a free transfer it would prove disastrous business to cash-strapped Barca.

The LaLiga outfit signed the 24-year-old for £124m from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.

Since joining he has managed just 30 goals in 118 games in all competitions in an injury-laden spell at the club.
