Kylian Mbappe “tired” of not getting same recognition at PSG as Lionel Messi and Neymar

Kylian Mbappe is “tired and frustrated” of not getting the same praise as Lionel Messi or Neymar at PSG, according to Emmanuel Petit.

The Frenchman is part of a star-studded three-pronged attack – the likes of which has rarely been seen.

Mbappe and Neymar moved to Paris in the same transfer window back in 2017 and have now been joined by Messi.

Any of the trio would command the limelight at the majority of other clubs, but are having to share it in the French capital, which creates its own issues.

Messi is regarded as arguably the game’s finest player whilst Neymar, the most expensive player ever, has a huge profile.

As a result Mbappe, despite his goals and performances, has often seen his teammates pick up the plaudits, which Petit believes could be behind him stalling on his future with Real Madrid circling.

“I think he’s been frustrated and tired by the situation at PSG over the past year,” he told Gambling.com.

“We’ve seen some trouble on the pitch between players both at Paris Saint-Germain and the national team, which was reflective in his game and his mood.

“Maybe he’s interested in Real Madrid because he’s tired of what’s happening here in France. I think he gets the feeling sometimes that he doesn’t get the same recognition as players like [Lionel] Messi or Neymar.

“Messi, before he came here, he was the king of Barcelona. But for me, the king of Paris Saint-Germain is Mbappe, not Messi or Neymar. With all the respect I have for Messi, Mbappe is still number one.”

“For me he’s been the best player at PSG since the beginning of the season and he still has a bit of time left on his contract.”

Mbappe’s current deal expires at the end of the season which could mean he leaves for free.

The World Cup winner cost PSG well over £100m when they signed him permanently from Monaco back in 2018.

However they rebuffed several offers from Madrid in the summer – the highest of which was believed to be in and around the £200m mark.

The Parisians are determined to keep hold of the 22-year-old, who has scored 140 times for them, and are still involved in contract discussions.

Mbappe can sign a pre-contract agreement from January, but Messi hopes he can continue to play alongside his teammate.

“Only Kylian knows what’s in his head and what he’s going to do,” said the Argentine.

“I can only say that I am happy he has stayed here this year.”
