ONUACHU GRABS HAT-TRICK IN GENK WIN…Scores 18 goals in 18 games

Nigerian striker, Paul Onuachu was in fiery form on Wednesday scoring a hat-trick for Genk in their 4-1 away win against Eupen at Kehrwegstadion.

Junya Ito opened scoreing for Genk in the 9th minute while Stef Peeters equalised for the home team in the 14th minute.

The game then turned to Onuachu show with the Nigerian striker scoring his first of three goals in the 42nd minute while converting twice from the spot in the 48th and 60th minutes to bag his first hat trick for Genk.

The three strikes also bring Onuachu’s goals haul to 18 in 18 matches as the Super Eagles forward continues his superlative run which has made him Nigeria’s hottest striker in Europe and Belgian Jupiler League top scorer.

The 26-year old was then replaced by compatriot, Cyriel Dessers in the 69th minute of the game as Genk closed the gap on league leaders Club Brugge to just one point after 19 matches in what is becoming a two-horse race for the Belgian title.

The hat-trick is Onuachu’s fourth in his ‘goal-rious’ career. His first hat-trick was recorded while starring for Midtjylland in the 4-1 win over Derry City in an Europa League qualifying game on July 6, 2017. The second hat-trick was in the 7-0 win against Greve IF in a Cup game on September 20, 2017 while the third was in the 4-1 win against Nordsjaelland in a Superligue game played on October 20, 2018.

Onuachu now has 27 goals to his credit in 40 Belgian First Division A appearances for Genk across two seasons.

Onuachu’s form has been phenomenal this season with his goals haul currently matching the 18 goals he scored while starring for Midtjylland in the Danish Superliga in the 2016/17 season.
