Nigerian international defender, Kevin Akpoguma has been ruled out of Hoffenheim‘s Bundesliga match against Borussia Moenchengladbach at the Prezero Arena on Wednesday.
Akpoguma first suffered a hamstring injury on January 2 when Hoffenheim fell 3-1 to Freiburg in a Bundesliga tie at home and was replaced by Sebastian Rudy on 17 minutes.
The Super Eagles defender missed a total number of 15 matches across all competitions for Hoffenheim but made his return in a 0-0 draw with Bayer Leverkusen on April 12.
Akpoguma, however, did not see full action as he was taken off for Havard Nordtveit in the 88th minute and subsequently missed last weekend’s 0-0 draw away to RB Leipzig.
Ahead of Hoffenheim’s German top-flight clash with Gladbach, chief coach, Sebastian Hoeness appeared at a pre-match media conference on Tuesday and spoke about Akpoguma.
“Unfortunately, Kevin Akpoguma is still out of action,” the German tactician revealed. Akpoguma has scored a goal in 20 games in all competitions for Hoffenheim this term.
