Alex Iwobi has expressed his excitement to be back at pre-season training for Everton ahead of the beginning of the 2021/22 English Premier League season.
Iwobi will be under the tutelage of a new manager at Goodison Park following the appointment of Rafael Benitez as the Toffees’ boss on June 30.
Iwobi who has so far been under three managers, Marco Silva, Duncan Ferguson and Carlo Ancelotti since joining Everton from Arsenal in 2019 took to Instagram to express his readiness for the new season: “Back at it.”
Iwobi continually struggled for consistency at Everton since joining from Arsenal in 2019 and the 2020/21 season did not fare any better for the Nigerian attacker who keeps flattering to deceive.
Iwobi who had always found himself in and out of Everton’s starting line-ups in recent times even before the season came to it’s conclusion scored just one goal and made two assists in 30 Premier League games.
And after making 36 appearances across all competitions for the Toffees from which he found the back of the net on just two occasions and registered three assists, he would be looking to improve.
The Nigerian international also during the season made a cryptic Instagram post, saying he would love to be played in his preferred position to which former Everton manager, Ancelotti replied him by saying: “Tell me your preferred position”.
Iwobi joined the Blues from Arsenal on deadline day in the summer transfer window of 2019 but in 65 appearances for the club from which he has a disappointing four goals, has become a player who often frustrates Everton’s supporters given his talent.
