Just over a year prior, Fury had risen from the canvas in the final round to claim a draw after it looked certain that he had been knocked out.
It seemed as though Hearn and Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, would put together the all-British classic after the second fight, but Wilder’s camp dug their contract with Fury back out which stated he was due a third fight.
After court proceedings, that was deemed to be true which put the plans to put on AJ vs Fury on hold.
There are still hopes that it will happen down the line, but Fury must evade Wilder’s terrifying one-punch power for another 12 rounds and AJ must overcome his skilled opponent in order for the bout to carry the same level of prestige.
