Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s stance on wonderkid Charlie Patino after Wimbledon snub | Football | Sport

Patino joined Arsenal as an 11-year-old from Luton Town and has made a name for himself in the Gunners academy.

He has appeared in the EFL Trophy this season and has started all five Premier League 2 games for the Arsenal under-23 side.

The midfielder scored a sublime individual effort for the under-23s against Manchester United earlier this month as he glided through a defence which included England international Phil Jones, before dinking the ball over Dean Henderson.

Patino signed his first professional contract with Arsenal last October and is expected to sign another deal next month when he turns 18.

Brian Stapleton, the Arsenal scout who first spotted Patino, says the youngster has a big future in the game.
