Mikel Arteta defends Arsenal players after Claudio Ranieri accusation
Liverpool’s 3-2 away loss to West Ham United means Arsenal went into the international break with the longest unbeaten run.
Mikel Arteta’s side have not tasted defeat since their 5-0 pummelling at the hands of Manchester City in August.
The North Londoners’ 1-0 home win against Watford saw them surge into fifth place, and victory against Liverpool after the international break will see them move into the top four.
It has been a sensational recovery from Arteta’s men, and they are now reaping the rewards from their summer recruitment strategy.
However, with the January transfer window on the horizon, the strategy appears to still be in motion – Mirror Sport rounds up the latest Arsenal transfer News.
Arsenal want Svanberg
Who should Arsenal sign in the summer? Comment below
Takehiro Tomiyasu has been one of the bargains of the season since he moved to Arsenal from Bologna for £16m.
And the Gunners may try to repeat the trick by making a move for his former teammate Mattias Svanberg, according to Il Resto del Carlino.
The Swedish midfielder has enjoyed a strong start to the season, contributing two goals and one assist in 12 Serie A appearances for La Rossa.
Svanberg fits into the Gunners’ recent transfer blueprint, as he has already amassed 99 appearances for Bologna, and 13 for Sweden, despite only being 22 years old.
He could potentially be a young star who could slide into the Arsenal starting eleven, just like his former teammate Tomiyasu.
Tomiyasu has started every single one of Arsenal’s Premier League matches since he arrived, and they are yet to lose a match with him in the team.
Arsenal eying up Villarreal ‘sensation’ Pino
Arteta is reportedly keen on ‘rejuvenating’ his squad with the acquisition of Villarreal winger Yeremy Pino.
The young Spanish winger had enjoyed a strong start to the season, becoming one of the first names on former Arsenal boss Unai Emery’s team sheet
He has already contributed two goals and three assists in 16 appearances this season, in a Villarreal side who has endured a tough start to the season.
And Arteta is a huge admirer of the precocious 19-year-old, and reports from Fichajes have claimed the winger is one of their main targets.
The Gunners are reportedly ‘following the situation’ around Pino’s future, but they will need to act very quickly, as the reigning Europa League holders are trying to commit him to a new deal.
Reports from Diario AS have claimed Villarreal have been trying to commit him to a new contract which has a massive release clause of around £68m.
Arsenal tempted by Adams’ release clause
Arsenal have reportedly become tempted to trigger the release clause of RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams.
The American would be available to depart the Bundesliga if a £32.25m release clause is triggered.
Adams is a midfielder by trade; however, he is versatile enough to also deputise at right-back when needed.
And reports from German publication SportBILD (via the Metro) have claimed the Gunners are considering triggering his release clause in the summer.
Adams has been a very prominent presence for Leipzig this season, making 13 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
He has played for the German giants since 2019, when he was signed from New York Red Bulls for £2m.
