Barcelona, Atletico ‘open to sensational Antoine Griezmann and Saul Niguez swap deal’

LaLiga giants Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are reportedly considering a sensational swap deal involving Antoine Griezmann and Saul Niguez.

Ronald Koeman is looking to reduce the wage bill at Barcelona and an exit deal for Griezmann would cut his current salary total.

Saul meanwhile has been heavily linked with a move away from the club, with Liverpool among the potential suitors.

Football Espana have reported that the two LaLiga rivals could look to do business this summer over a potential swap deal.

Atletico Madrid however could demand a further €20m (£17m) add on for the midfielder.

Saul dropped down the pecking order under Diego Simeone last season, and Atleti have already recruited on the midfield front this summer with the arrival of the exciting Rodrigo de Paul.

He currently finds himself behind the likes of Koke, Thomas Lemar and Marcos Llorente, while Atletico also have Hector Herrera and Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Liverpool could stand in the way of the swap deal, with the former Premier League champions reportedly open to making an offer for him.

Griezmann signed for Barcelona from Atletico Madrid for £107m in 2019 after a long transfer saga.

The French forward came under fire after he announced a year prior he would stay at Atletico Madrid despite interest from Barcelona, as part of a half-hour long documentary on Spanish TV station Movistar.
