Players of Nigeria’s representative in the CAF Confederation Cup Rivers United will receive a minimum One Million Naira (#1,000,000) if they win against Bloemfontein Celtic in Saturday’s CAF Confederation Cup first round second leg tie in Port Novo, Benin Republic.
The Nigerian business magnate, politician and philanthropist Felix Obuah in a statement in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, promised to pay Rivers United One Million Naira (#1,000,000) for a win and another Two Hundred Thousand Naira (#200,000) for each goal they score against the Siwelele.
You will recall that Obuah had promised players of Rivers United Two Million Naira (#2,000,000) for a win, One Million Naira (#1,000,000) for a draw and another Two Hundred Thousand Naira (#200,000) for each goal they score against the Siwelele in the first leg which the “Pride of Rivers” earned for themselves Two Million, Four Hundred Thousand Naira for their 2-0 win in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
General Manager of Rivers United Okey Kpalukwu in his response thanked Obuah for his magnanimity and huge support to the team and promised the team will not disappoint come Saturday.
“We appreciate you Sir for this motivational support to the team. We will do our best to score goals and win for you, our Sponsors, the Supporters and the Nation at large. We will not disappoint you by God’s grace”.
Rivers United will play Bloemfontein Celtic in the CAF Confederation Cup first round second leg on Saturday at the Charles De Gaulles Stadium in Port Novo, Benin Republic. Kick-off time is 4pm.
