Benin head coach, Michel Dussuyer is confident that his team can secure the three maximum points against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Saturday’s 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture.
Currently topping Group L with eight points, one ahead of closest rivals, Benin, the Super Eagles will be away to face the Squirrels at Stade Charles de Gaulle in Porto Novo on March 27 before concluding their campaign three days later against visiting Lesotho Crocodiles at Teslim Balogun Stadium.
The Squirrels suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Gernot Rohr-led side on match-day one despite putting up a good fight in the game.
Dussuyer’s side have won two and drawn one of their last three games in the qualifiers since the defeat to the Super Eagles in Uyo.
Meanwhile, the Squirrels held their first training session ahead of Saturday’s clash against the Eagles in kouhounou on Tuesday afternoon. 23 players including Stephan Sessegnon took part in the exercise.
Head coach of the team, Dussuyer unveiled his final squad for the game on Monday.
Dussuyer’s side occupy second spot in Group L and will qualify for the 2022 AFCON finals in Cameroon with a win against the three-time African champions.
