Benin fans overpower security men at stadium

… ahead of Eagles clash

Beninoise fans showed another side of themselves after overpowering the security men at the Charles de Gaulle Stadium in Porto-Novo ahead of today’s 2022 African Cup of Nations qualification match against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Nigeria require only one point from their remaining two qualifiers against Benin at the Stade Charles de Gaulle in Porto-Novo today and Lesotho at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos to make it through to the AFCON tournament proper which is scheduled to take place in Cameroon next year.

Ahead of today’s match between Benin and Nigeria, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) had declared that only 200 fans would be allowed to see the game live at the stadium.

The die-hard Beninoise football fans in large numbers, however, found a way to overpower the security men at the stadium but the main gate to the ground itself was locked as the supporters couldn’t find their way into the venue itself as some other stern-looking soldiers manned the position.
