Christian Benteke says that Crystal Palace teammate Eberechi Eze “brought his magic” during the 2-0 win over Sheffield United.
Eze went on a number of slaloming runs that resulted in both an assist for Benteke in the first minutes of the game and his own goal as the game drew to a close.
Benteke notched his seventh goal of the Premier League season – more than his total in the last three campaigns combined – as the striker nears the end of his current Palace deal.
Both the Belgian striker and Eze’s goals went in via deflections, but when asked the 30-year-old insisted that his effort was going in anyway, before adding that every team needs a bit of luck now and again.
“Yes, yes, it was going in,” he told Premier League Productions. “But when you play these kind of games sometimes you need that bit of luck and I think we had two goals with deflections, but we have to take them and move forward.
“I think when we scored the first goal, the most important thing was to score a second as quick as possible. But as you know, the Premier League is never easy and I think we had a lack of some composure in the final third.
“But Eze brought his magic and after that the game was over.”
