BREAKIG: Azeez To Begin Cartegena Career From The Bench

Former Nigerian junior international midfielder Ramon Azeez will start his Cartegena career on the substitutes bench after he was named in the matchday squad for this evening’s LaLiga Smartbank (Second Division) tie against visiting Real Oviedo at the Estadio Cartagonova in Cartagena, Spain.

Azeez made a deadline day switch from LaLiga Santander side, Granada to Cartegena on a six month loan deal and the Nigerian is set to make his debut for the relegation haunted club.

The Nigerian found playing time hard to come by at Granada after featuring in just four games viz two in the LaLiga Santander and two in the Copa Del Rey and asked to leave the club in the January transfer window.

Cartegena gaffer, Luis Carrión believes Azeez can help his team escape relegation and will be banking on his versatility on the pitch.

‘Azeez can play in various positions in the centre of the field and even behind the striker. He has good ball handling and has come here with a lot of desire. His level is that of LaLiga Santander which will be to our advantage,’ said Carrión.

Cartegena are second from bottom in the 22-team LaLiga Smartbank with 22 points from 23 games and are just a point away from safety.
