Super Falcons of Nigeria’s captain, Asisat Oshoala has dedicated her goals for Barcelona Femení against Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday to her step-mother who died during the weekend.
Oshoala netted twice to help Barcelona secure a 7-0 victory over Vallecano in a Spanish Primera Iberdrola fixture, delivering an impressive performance at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
The forward has been in fantastic form for Lluis Cortes’ team since teaming up with the side on loan from Dalian Quanjian in February 2019 before the deal was then made permanent.
Having come on as a substitute in last Wednesday’s Super Cup loss to Atletico Madrid, the Nigerian international was handed her seventh start this term and made the best of her time.
In a quest for a return to winning ways, the champions started the game at home impressively, Oshoala tapped in Barca’s third goal in the 15th minute and bagged a brace on 59 minutes.
The 26-year-old thereafter dedicated her goals to her late step-mother. Meanwhile, a minute of silence was held before the game between Barca and Vallecano to honour her late step-mom.
