Japan ’93 FIFA Under-17 World Cup winner, Festus Odini has revealed that the team’s coach, Fanny Amun felt he was a primary school pupil the first time he visited the training camp.
Odini while speaking to fellow compatriot and ex-international, Ifeanyi Udeze on Brila FM on Thursday morning said that he actually gate-crashed the U-17 camp immediately after his secondary school education.
Odini also said that due to the fact that he had a small stature, the Nigerian under-17 team boss, Amun felt that he was too young to take part in the squad’s preparations for the junior World Cup.
He said in pidgin English: “As soon as coach Fanny Amun see me for camp, he just ask me wetin I dey find for here as we no dey prepare for primary school tournament.” Odini shone at Japan 93 as he also scored.
