Ramon Azeez has asked to leave Granada …Rojiblancos want compensation for Nigerian

By Oluyemi Ogunseyin

Granada hope to get some compensation for Ramón Azeez who has submitted a transfer request to leave the Spanish La Liga Santander club during the winter window this month.

Azeez has seen just 100 minutes of La Liga action for Granada so far this season and has fallen down the pecking order and January offers him a chance to assess his situation.

He is still waiting for his La Liga return after being an unused substitute in Granada’s 2-0 win over Osasuna on January 12 and also missed Sunday’s 2-1 Copa Del Rey win over Malaga.

The Super Eagles fringe midfielder was sidelined with an injury for two months and only made a return to full training for his club-side, Granada over one month back on December 2.

Azeez has actually featured in two competitive games since returning from injury when Granada beat San Juan 2-0 in a Copa Del Rey tie on December 17 and Cultural Leonesa 2-1 also in the same competition on January 6.

He was on from start to finish in the first encounter but played for 71 minutes in the second one while he last played a La Liga match for Granada in a 6-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid on September 27.

Azeez has now asked to leave Granada, according to coach Diego Martínez but the Nasrid team paid 550,000 euros for his purchase from Lugo and hopes to recover their investment.

Martínez revealed after the conclusion of the Cup match against Málaga that Azeez had asked to leave Granada. So he explained. “Azeez has been left out (of the call) by technical decision.

“He has requested to go out in this winter transfer market and we have thought it convenient that he has time to solve his personal situation,” the club’s manager disclosed.

According to Ideal reports, some teams could be interested in the Nigerian midfielder and these are the likes of Sabadell, Leganés, Osasuna or clubs from the Turkish league. Also, the media speak of Real Zaragoza.

Azeez was signed in the winter window for the 2018-19 season, precisely on January 31, 2019 from Lugo. Granada paid 300,000 euros plus a bonus of another 250,000 in the event of promotion to the La Liga.

Promotion was obtained by the Los Cármenes club, so the total transfer was 550,000 euros. But a check on transfermarkt reveals that the 27-year-old’s current value is €2million.
