Kelechi Iheanacho will start on the bench for the fifth consecutive Premier League game in 2021 when Leicester City welcome Leeds United to the King Power stadium this evening. The Nigerian is not named in the starting line up released by Foxes’ gaffer,Brendan Rodgers for the game.
Iheanacho has started just two of the 10 games he has featured in so far this term in the competition with his last start coming last December (28) in the 1-1 draw away at Selhurst Park against Eberechi Eze’s Crystal Palace.
Since then,the Nigerian international forward has made it to the bench in the four Premier League games Leicester City have played in the new year,playing cameo roles in two and was an unused substitute in the other two.
The Nigerian is yet to score for Leicester City in the Premier League so far this term and this has become his second worst GOALSCORING start to a Premier League season.
In his debut season (2015/16) he scored in his second game while the following he was on target in his third game of the season before switching to Leicester City.
At Leicester City he scored his first of just three Premier League goals on his 15th appearance in the 2017/18 season,scoring once and assisting another in the Foxes 4-1 win at West Brom while in the following season (2018/19),he was on target after just five games while last season,his most prolific for the club in the competition,he scored on his season’s debut,hitting a last-gasp winner after providing the assist to restore parity in the 2-1 defeat of Everton at the King Power stadium in December 2019
