Breaking News: Iwobi Scores First EPL Goal Since September 2019!

Nigeria midfielder, Alex Iwobi Tuesday evening scored his first Premier League goal of the 2020/21 campaign and in the process ended a barren run in front of goal that dated back to September 2019 when he headed in Everton’s second goal in a 3-2 defeat of Wolves at Goodison Park.

The Super Eagles star,who started his ninth game in 15 Premier League appearances so far this term for the Toffees fired Carlo Ancelotti’s men ahead on six minutes after connecting a Lucas Digne cut-back.

Former Real Madrid striker,James Rodriguez began the move that led to Iwobi finally breaking his goalscoring duck.The Colombian led Everton on their first attack before playing a brilliant ball out to the far side of the area for Digne whose first-time cut back to the middle of the area is pounced on by Iwobi to slam home a fine strike into the bottom corner.

Interestingly, Iwobi’s last strike in the Premier League was against Tuesday night’s opponent,Wolves and the Nigerian has now scored twice against four teams since he made his debut in the competition in October 2015.He has scored twice against Watford,Burnley and Crystal Palace before adding Wolves to the list of his ‘victims’ Tuesday night.I

Iwobihas now featured in 140 Premier League games across five season for Arsenal and Everton.
