BREAKING NEWS: Premier League’s Harry Toffolo Gets 5-Month Ban for 375 Betting Breaches

According to reports ‘Premier League’s Harry Toffolo Gets 5-Month Ban for 375 Betting Breaches’ Harry Toffolo, a defender for Nottingham Forest, has been handed a suspended five-month ban from football after confessing to 375 violations of betting regulations.

These breaches occurred between 2014 and 2017 when Toffolo was associated with Norwich City, having gone on loan to Swindon Town, Rotherham, Peterborough, and Scunthorpe during that period.

Toffolo is the latest player in the Premier League to face penalties for betting infractions. Brentford’s Ivan Toney received an eight-month suspension, barring him from playing until January 2024, following 232 charges of violating the FA’s betting rules.

In December 2020, Newcastle United’s Kieran Trippier was given a 10-week ban and fined £70,000 after text messages revealed that he had encouraged friends to bet on his transfer to Atletico Madrid. FA Rule E8 prohibits players from involving third parties in betting on games, placing bets themselves, or sharing privileged information for betting purposes.

An independent regulatory commission has also imposed a fine of £20,956.22 on Toffolo for his breaches. His suspension is suspended until the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, meaning it will only be enforced if he commits another offense before that date.

This allows the full-back to be available for Nottingham Forest’s Premier League match against Burnley on Monday. However, Toffolo has had limited involvement in his manager’s plans this season, making the bench for just one league fixture against Sheffield United in August.

An FA spokesperson stated, “Nottingham Forest’s Harry Toffolo has been given a five-month suspension, suspended until the end of the 2024/25 season, and fined £20,956.22 for misconduct related to our betting regulations. The defender admitted to breaching FA Rule E1(b) 375 times between January 22, 2014, and March 18, 2017, and an independent Regulatory Commission imposed these sanctions following a hearing. The Regulatory Commission’s detailed reasons for these decisions will be published in due course.”

After several loan spells during his time at Carrow Road, Toffolo played a key role in Lincoln City’s promotion to League One before joining Huddersfield Town in January 2020. He spent two and a half seasons in the Championship before making the move to the Premier League with Forest in the summer of 2022.

Toffolo has made only one senior appearance under Steve Cooper this season, playing for 20 minutes in a League Cup defeat to Burnley last month. He has made a total of 22 appearances for Nottingham Forest, contributing to the club retaining its top-flight status last season. His contract at the City Ground is set to expire at the end of this season.
