Breaking! NPFL: Adamawa records first win on 12th attempt!

Adamawa United braved all the odds including the reported kidnapp of its driver to beat visiting Lobi Stars of Makurdi on Thursday in Yola to record their first victory in the 12 weeks old league.

The Yola-based team has only managed three draws and lost eight times in 11 games prior to Thursday’s match against Lobi Stars who have won four of their 11 games before their visit to Yola.

The result did not however change Adamawa United’s position on the log as they are rooted at the bottom with six points from 12 games, six points behind the duo of Warri Wolves and Ifeanyi Ubah and seven behind Katsina United who failed to make home advantage count as they drew goalless with Mountain of Fire.

The Katsina team needed a win to leafrog the Olukoya Boys and move further clear of the relegation zone but failed in the bid while in Owerri, Heartland came from a goal down to defeat visiting Dakkada FC to move to eighth on the log with 17 points from 12 matches.

Kano Pillars are topping the log with 23 points after Nyima Nwangwa’s first half goal gave them all three points against Sunshine Stars of Akure following Kwara United’s 1-1 draw with Abia Warriors in Ilorin.

The Afonja Warriors are a point behind the new league leaders, same as Enyimba of Aba who could have leafrogged both teams if they had not allowed Akwa United to score in added time to force a 1-1 draw at the Enyimba international stadium in Aba.

Kano Pillars will have the opportunity to consolidate their hold on the top spot when they visit Dakkada FC in Lagos while the chasing pack, Kwara United, Enyimba, Nasarawa United and Rangers international of Enugu will also be hoping to win on Sunday
.
