Nigerian international defender William Troost-Ekong will play in the Premier League next season.
The former Udinese of Italy centre back was in action for the entire duration of the ‘promotion’ tie against Millwall at the Vicarage Road stadium on Saturday as Watford defeated the visitors 1-0 to seal an immediate return to the Premier League.
Also set to return to the top-flight in England is former Nigerian junior international, Isaac Success who was however missing from the game for Watford.
Troost-Ekong made 31 starts in 32 appearances for the Hornets in the Skybet championship so far this term with just two games to go and will now ply his trade in the Premier League next season. He joined Watford from Serie A side, Udinese last summer after featuring 66 times for the Italian club.
With Semi Ajayi and West Brom certain to be relegated from the elite league at the end of this season, Troost-Ekong will be the only Super Eagles defender that will be plying his trade in the Premier League and will join Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi at Leicester City and Alex Iwobi at Everton.
Ola Aina is on season long loan at another relegation haunted club, Fulham and looks certain to return to Serie A side, Torino at the end of the season.
