BUNDESLIGA: Awoniyi remains in treatment room, out of Frankfurt tie

…Misses Union Berlin’s clash vs Frankfurt

Taiwo Awoniyi remains in the treatment room and will therefore miss Union Berlin’s Bundesliga clash with Eintracht Frankfurt at the Deutsche Bank Park on Saturday.

Awoniyi has been out for over a month since suffering a thigh injury during Union’s 0-0 draw with Schalke in a Bundesliga tie at the Alte Foersterei on February 13.

Union confirmed then that Awoniyi who has struck the back of the net five times and made one assist in 19 league appearances could be out of action for many weeks.

The Nigerian striker who is enjoying a season-long loan from Liverpool has missed four league games against Freiburg, Hoffenheim, Arminia Bielefied and FC Cologne.

Union are also likely to be without fellow Nigerian compatriot, Anthony Ujah through injury for Saturday’s Bundesliga tie versus Frankfurt as he is still recovering.

Ujah is yet to make a German top-flight appearance for Union so far during the 2020/21 season due to a long-term injury which is still keeping him on the sidelines.
