Enyimba FC are set to give their continental title challenge a real push this midweek when they take on South African side Orlando Pirates on Wednesday in Soweto.
Fresh from a goalscoring contribution against Ahly Benghazi, captain of Enyimba FC, Austin Oladapo is talking tough ahead of the clash. The mercurial, box to box midfielder who scored a scorcher on match day one of the CAF Confederation Cup revealed his side is not in South Africa for a tour.
“The game will be a very big battle, because whosoever wins will sit top of the group, I don’t want to disrespect them, I have watched most of their games and there are a very good side and we are a good side as well. We know the purpose of our trip to South Africa, we are not going for a tour but we are going for a win which will keep us top of the group,” Oladapo said in an interview on the club’s official website.
Austin Oladapo has been in impressive form so far this season scoring three goals in all competitions, of which two have been on the continent.
Match day two rekindles one of football’s fiercest rivalry between Nigeria and South Africa, while the former have had the upper hand in national team football, it’s been a close contest at club level.
A win for Enyimba FC in Soweto will see the Eight-time Nigerian champions tighten their stranglehold in Group A with 6 points from two games.
