Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze finally returned to action Sunday evening playing a cameo role for Villarreal who played out a 1-1 draw away at Athletic Bilbao.
Chukwueze who had recently undergone a successful groin surgery started from the bench and featured for the last five minutes of the game after coming on for Etienne Capoue in the 85th minute.
It would be called that Chukwueze made it to the bench as an unused substitute last week in an Europa League game where Villarreal defeated their host, RB Salzburg 2-0 at the Red Bull Arena.
Chukwueze has now been subbed on 12 times in 18 LaLiga appearances so far this term, clocking 705 minutes of action.
He has scored once and provided three assists.
The groin injury had seen the 21-year old missed five LaLiga games against Granada, SD Huesca, Real Sociedad, Elche and Real Betis between January 20 and February 14 before his return against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
During the same period, the groin injury also kept him out of Villarreal’s Copa Del Rey games against Tenerife, Girona and Levante.
