Derek Chisora does not believe the undisputed world heavyweight title fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury will happen this year.
In an exclusive interview with talkSPORT, Chisora backed AJ to topple Fury but explained why he reckons the eagerly-awaited showdown will be delayed until 2022.
Joshua holds the WBA, IBF and WBO straps while Fury has the WBC belt and the Ring Magazine title and the hope is that the two men will finally meet this summer as part of a two-fight series to determine the best in the world.
But despite assurances from promoters and both fighters themselves – not to mention a rumoured date and venue – there has still yet to be an official announcement.
“I’ve got a bet on, I don’t think the fight will happen this year,” Chisora told James Savundra.
“I think it will be next year and I think the one who wins is AJ.”
He added: “I just think there are loads of things happening in the world right now with this corona situation and I think the fight will happen next year.”
Chisora returns to the ring this weekend when he faces former world heavyweight champion Joseph Parker in a fight which promises entertainment from the very first bell.
Fresh off his win against Junior Fa in his native New Zealand, Parker is hoping to revitalise his bid to regain the heavyweight crown after a tough three year period since relinquishing his WBO belt to Joshua in Cardiff back in 2018.
