Do you recognise these past and present WWE stars at the Super Bowl? Wrestlers pose for photos – including one with Taylor Swift! – as they watch Kansas City Chiefs beat San Francisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium

  • Various AEW wrestlers were also present and shared photos on social media
  • Rey Mysterio – who usually wears a mask while wrestling – had his face covered

Several WWE and wrestling stars were in attendance at the Super Bowl on Sunday as Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers.

The Chiefs lifted their second consecutive Super Bowl title in Las Vegas when they won 25-22 with the game going into overtime and Mecole Hardman delivering the deciding touchdown.

In what is one of the most in-demand sporting events in the calendar year, millions watched on television as Travis Kelce screamed in the face of his head coach Andy Reid, nearly knocking the 65-year-old off his feet and having to be hauled away.

In the stands, meanwhile, 61,629 watched on at the Allegiant Stadium – the lowest-ever non-pandemic Super Bowl attendance – and that number included a number of world-renowned wrestling stars.

The likes of Bayley, Rey Mysterio and Mercedes Mone, formerly Sasha Banks, were in attendance, but not all of them left happy.

Bayley and Mysterio are big 49ers fans, and they ended up losing by the bares of margins despite leading earlier on in the game.

They posed on social media alongside Mysterio’s daughter, Aliyah Gutierrez – who has made sporadic appearances on WWE tv – with Bayley covering Mysterio’s face in one photo.

The WWE Hall of Famer traditionally wears a mask when wrestling, and Bayley, who won the women’s Royal Rumble match in January and will challenge former stable-mate Iyo Sky at WrestleMania, made sure his features weren’t on show by putting her hand over his face.

Mone, known as Banks in WWE, is expected to debut in rival company AEW soon, and she posed next to former AEW Women’s Champions Britt Baker. Baker went onto share a photo with Bayley inside the arena.

Naomi, who recently returned to WWE, was also present, as well as real-life partner Jimmy Uso.

Titus O’Neil also smiled for photos, while the group photo, which included a number of agents, was fronted and shared by the former Mojo Rawley.

The majority of the wrestlers in attendance, it seemed, were backing the 49ers.

One WWE star, however, Baron Corbin, is a Chiefs fan and re-shared a photo of himself with Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, to a social media user who was mocking him.

Both Mone and Mysterio shared photos from inside the bowl, with Mone also posing with O’Neil and walking arm-in-arm with Naomi and Bayley.

It is expected that the 32-year-old will debut in AEW at AEW Big Business on March 13.
