Efe Ajagba on next fight: I want Dubois

Nigerian heavyweight sensation, Efe Ajagba wants a showdown with young British prospect, Daniel Dubois as he looks to step up to elite company.

The 26-year-old Top Rank star improved to 15-0 last weekend with the 12th knockout of his pro career, a highlight-reel finish of Brian Howard.

That was a welcome sight for Ajagba fans after he had disappointed in his last outing vs Jonathan Rice last September.

Efe though has now confirned he had been suffering from injury when he met Rice.

He told Fansided: “Both elbows. It happened before Jonathan Rice. It took me like two to three months (to recover).

“After the knockout, I feel the pain a little bit on my right elbow.”

Ajagba is now keen to carry on his boxing education. And he is also eager to mix it up with some of his fellow next generation of potential megastars.

The top of his list features British ace, Dubois who is about to return after the first defeat of his pro career.

That was a knockout defeat by Joe Joyce last November.

Efe said: “I’d like to fight Daniel Dubois, Joe Joyce, and Tony Yoka. I would love to fight Daniel Dubois.”

The knockout of Howard was a terrific finish and Ajagba says it was no fluke.

In fact, he says there is nobody out there who punches harder.
“I’m the hardest puncher heavyweight ever in the world right now,“ he claimed confidently.

As for comparisons with former WBC king, Deontay Wilder, Ajagba believes he’s already better than ‘The Bronze Bomber’.

“Yes, because I have the skills and I have the reach and I have the power in both arms.”

We await the next chapter in the Efe Ajagba story but right now, it appears to be leading to some major fights in the rest of 2021.
It promises to be one not to miss.
