Emmanuel Dennis Joins Cologne On Loan

Bundesliga club FC c have signed Nigerian international forward Emmanuel Dennis on a six-month loan deal from Club Brugge.

Dennis has been sidetracked at Club Brugge in recent weeks after falling out with manager Philippe Clement.

The 23-year-old came close to leaving Club Brugge last summer, but remain in Belgium after interested clubs failed to cough out the suitable price.

Cologne have been able to secure the services of the Nigerian for a loan fee of €1.20m and he will begin training with his new teammates on Wednesday.

The Nigerian’s arrival has delighted Cologne officials and Horst Heldt the club’s managing director reveals why they splashed the cash on Dennis.

“Emmanuel is a fast player who can be used as a centre forward and/or in the wings. With his finishing quality, he played himself into the books of numerous top clubs last season,” Heldt told the club’s official website.

Dennis contributed five goals (one assist) on his way to the Belgian Championship in the 2019/20 season, and also scored four goals (one assist) in the Champions League/qualification and the Europa League. The 23-year-old attacker has also scored once in the Champions League this season.

Dennis is also delighted to make the switch from Belgium to Germany.

“The last six months haven’t been easy for me. Since I want to play and score goals, I really wanted to change club in the current transfer window. I’m glad I’m at FC Cologne now. I am aware of the sporting situation here (fighting relegation in the Bundesliga)– that is why I want to make my contribution to keeping the club in the Bundesliga with as many appearances and goals as possible,” says the Nigerian.
