Fulham Nigerian Trio Set For First EPL Game Vs Arsenal

Three of the Nigerian quartet at struggling Premier League side,Fulham are set to feature in their first ever game against Arsenal this afternoon at the Emirates stadium.

The trio of defenders Ola Aina and Tosin Adarabioyo and striker,Josh Maja have never featured against the Gunners and will be eager to do so as relegation threatened Fulham seek their first win against the north London side in 30 games.

Out of the two, only Aina has featured in two Premier League seasons but was not listed in the matchday squads for the two clubs he has played for-Chelsea and Fulham.

The on-loan defender was having fitness issue following his loan switch from Serie A side,Torino last September when the Gunners thrashed Fulham 3-0 at Craven Cottage but stands a good chance of not only featuring against one of Premier League’s top clubs but also make his 29th start of the season.

Aina has scored twice and provided one assist thus far.

Adarabioyo was also not in the matchday squad in the 3-0 drubbing last September but will be hoping to use Sunday afternoon’s game to return to the starting eleven after he was benched for all 90 minutes in Fulham’s 1-0 loss to Wolves last week.

Adarabioyo has made 27 starts for Fulham this season.

Bordeaux loanee,Maja is also in line for his first game in all senior competitions against the 13-time English top-flight league winner.

Maja arrived on loan in January and has scored twice in 10 games for Fulham so far.

Meanwhile, the fourth Nigerian at the club,Ademola Lookman will be eyeing his second win in three appearances against Arsenal.

Lookman arrived the Craven Cottage last summer but not early enough to feature in Fulham’s opening game of the season, the 3-0 loss to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

The forward was however in the Everton’s team that pipped the Gunners 1-0 at Goodison Park in April 2019 and the 23 year old on loan from German Bundesliga side,RB Leipzig will be hoping for a repeat this afternoon at the Emirates as the Cottagers languish in the relegation zone and a loss will quicken their quick return to the Skybet Championship where they gained promotion to the Premier League last season.
