Former World Heavyweight boxing champion George Foreman believes Tyson Fury will be too hot to handle for Anthony Joshua when both boxers meet later in the year in a Blockbuster bout.
Foreman, who was the oldest man to ever win the heavyweight crown, is backing Fury to win boxing’s biggest fight as he believes the Gypsy King is too skillful for AJ to handle.
Speaking to iFL TV, the 72-year-old said: ‘That boy Tyson Fury, you’re going to have to bring everything you’ve got to beat him.
Foreman believes Fury is the favourite and said ‘I cannot see Joshua winning the fight’
‘And I’m going to be honest with you, I just cannot see Joshua beating him. But I sure would buy some tickets to see what would happen, I’m that curious about it.
‘But that Tyson Fury man, woooh, Fury – I mean, how did he get the name?’
Although Foreman is confident Fury will be the victor, AJ will come into the bout the fresher fighter, having successfully defended his titles in a stoppage win over Kubrat Pulev in December while his rival has been inactive since his victory over Deontay Wilder over a year ago.
Joshua has begun preparing specifically for his fight with Fury and Joby Clayton, who helps train him alongside head trainer Rob McCracken, has said there will be a whole host of weaponry in AJ’s arsenal as he looks to undo the notoriously tricky Gypsy King.
‘It’s never too early to talk about basic game-plans,’ Clayton told Sky Sports. ‘We are laying the foundations in preparation for camp.
‘My job is to prepare AJ to his best ability. I know that when AJ is AJ, he’s a handful for anybody.
‘Fury is a very versatile athlete so I am personally focusing on AJ, and what he brings to the table to combat a whole host of techniques and tactics that he might face.
‘The most important thing is that he focuses on himself.’
