Harry Kane officially announcing that he will stay at Tottenham this summer has sparked chaos on social media, with Manchester City’s chase falling flat.
Striker Kane insisted he will be ‘100 per cent focused’ on helping Spurs achieve success this season, with the most dramatic transfer saga of the window finally over.
But his statement has led to a mixed reaction, with Spurs supporters hailing Daniel Levy while the City faithful quickly set their sights on signing Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sportsmail has reported often that Kane has been City’s No 1 target, but Levy has stood firm over his eye-watering £150million valuation of the talisman.
Indeed, it was also revealed this week that Spurs chiefs were bullish about keeping Kane, and that has now proven the case after the player spoke out.Â
City’s initial £100m offer back in June fell flat, largely due to the guaranteed £75m up front, and the move is now viewed as a virtual impossibility.Â

‘Daniel Levy saying f*** you to Manchester City is the most admirable thing he’s done as chairman,’ one happy Twitter user has said. ‘This is a win for football.’
Another added: ‘You don’t mess with Daniel Levy’.
‘Daniel Levy strikes again,’ a third posted. ‘Any Spurs player signing long contracts without a release clause only has themselves to blame.’
The praise for Levy, who has been much-maligned in the past, continued – with supporters of countless clubs uniting to applaud his stance.

Another account said: ‘Gets a lot of stick but Daniel Levy has been brilliant for Spurs this summer.’
And a fifth agreed, simply writing: ‘Daniel Levy. Proper business man.’Â
The mood at City, meanwhile, is seemingly mixed. Judging from the immediate reaction to Kane’s words, many fans are already eyeing up Juventus ace Ronaldo.
‘We’re getting Ronaldo, I promise you we do not care’, one insisted.
Another mapped out what they believe City will do next, saying: ‘Plan now is to buy Ronaldo and then get Haaland next season, lads. It’s simple. Just pay the money.’Â

A flood of replies urging City to splash out on Ronaldo have greeted their latest tweet, however, and one user demanded: ‘Sign Ronaldo’.
City are understood to have been offered a £25m deal for Ronaldo by his agent, Jorge Mendes, earlier this summer.
While the club turned it down to continue pursuing Kane, they may be tempted to swoop back in, especially after the reports claiming Ronaldo is angling to join them.Â
But despite his exciting potential move, some supporters have been left frustrated by City’s failure to sign Kane, an an apparent lack of a clear plan B.

‘Khaldoon (Al-Mubarak, chairman) gets off lightly because he sounds nice and calm and fancy at his end of season interviews,’ one posted.
‘Massive fraud. Him, (Omar) Berrarda, (Ferran) Soriano and Txiki (Begiristain) have a lot to answer for.’Â
Another fan took on a more irate approach, writing: ‘What a waste of f****** time. We could have had (Lionel) Messi, but Txiki dedicated his time to this bottler.
‘I want to see Ronaldo at my club.’
