Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is the top flight’s highest paid player with a salary of £385,000-a-week, with Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea second with £375,000-a-week wages.

Kane is thought to have been given a pay rise when Spurs refused to sell him last summer, with the striker’s current deal said to be worth £300,000-a-week.

According to the report, Spurs would be likely to hand the 28-year-old a rise only if it were heavily linked to bonuses, including goals.

Kane insisted he would be focused on having a good season with Spurs, despite believing he had been on the receiving end of broken promises by the club.

He wrote on Twitter: ‘It was incredible to see the reception from the Spurs fans on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I’ve had in the last few weeks.

‘I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success.’

As revealed by Sportsmail last week, sources close to the England captain insisted he will continue to give everything to Spurs, despite feeling that the club have not matched his ambitions.

Kane’s camp claim it was agreed he would be permitted to leave if Spurs didn’t win a trophy or qualify for the Champions League last season.

Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo expressed his delight at Kane’s news stating later on Wednesday: ‘Great news, great news. Fantastic news for everybody. Since Harry joined us, he has been working so this is what we value. His attitude in training session has been great… so it is finished.’

As Sportsmail reported, Kane’s desire to leave for the Etihad had nothing to do with money — although sources on Wednesday indicated that his wages at Manchester City could have reached as much as £500,000 a week all in.

After failing to sign Kane this summer, Man City are reportedly eyeing a move for Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to Gianlucadimarzio.com, City are willing to offer Ronaldo a two-year deal worth over £230,000-a-week but do not want to pay Juventus a transfer fee for the Portuguese icon.

The report says the Old Lady want around £25million for the player which would allow them to find a replacement so late in the window.

Juventus reportedly like the idea of taking on City’s Brazilian striker Jesus in a swap, but Guardiola is said to have rebuffed that idea.

City’s manager has also confirmed he will leave the club at the end of the 2022-2023 season, with his next role set to be in international football.
