Former Nigerian international forward, Odion Ighalo scored his third brace of the season as his club, Al-Shabab defeated Al-Wehda 3-0 at the Al-Shabab Club Stadium to finish second on 57 points behind Al Hilal who also defeated Al-Faisaly 3-2 as they retain their four point lead in clinching a record 17th title.
Ighalo scored on 54 and 90 minutes as the six-time Saudi Arabia League champions extended their league title drought to the ninth successive season after winning their last title in the 2011/12 season.
The 2019 African Nations Cup top scorer took time to rediscover his best form after leaving Manchester United and his recent performances for Al-Shabab show he still has plenty to offer.
The 31-year-old has scored six goals and provided two assists in his last four appearances and nine in 13 games since he joined the club in February.
Ighalo only managed three goals in his first nine outings for the club. But he has shaken off the dust to go on an impressive run which saw him net another brace.
The Nigerian whose deal with the Saudi Club runs till 2023 will be hoping to hit the ground running when the new season begins in a few weeks from now.
