Ighalo Opens Saudi Goal Account

Former Nigeria international forward Odion Ighalo this evening opened his goal account for his club, Al-Shabab in their 4-0 demolition of their host, Al Nassr at the King Saud University stadium.

Ighalo was subbed on in the 46th minute of the game for Fabio Martins with Al-Shabab two goals up.

The Nigerian scored 45 minutes later off an assist by former Argentina star, Ever Banega who scored the opening goal of the encounter.

Ighalo signed for the Saudi team a fortnight ago after leaving English Premier League side Manchester United after a year-long loan deal from the Chinese Super League.

While he enjoyed a fairy tale run in his first season at Old Trafford, the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer was declared surplus to requirement in the on-going season, playing only nine minutes of Premier League football and one minute in the UEFA Champions League.

He however made two appearances in the league cup, starting in the 3-0 wins at both Luton Town and Brighton.

Ighalo made 12 Premier League appearances, playing 99 minutes of football in total with no goal and assist for Manchester United. He however scored two goals in five Europa League games and three goals in three FA Cup appearances for his boyhood club.
