Nigerian international forward, Kelechi Iheanacho will be seeking to become the seventh Nigerian player to score at least 10 goals in a Premier League season when his club,Leicester City host Crystal Palace at the King Power stadium Monday evening.
Iheanacho has scored nine times in 19 appearances for the Foxes so far this term with eight of the goals coming in his last six games and the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup Golden Ball winner will be confident scoring against a team he has scored twice and bagged an assist against in eight appearances in the competition.
Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Nwankwo Kanu,Peter Odemwingie, Efan Ekoku, Obafemi Martins and Odion Ighalo have all scored at least 10 times in a Premier League season.
Aiyegbeni scored 16 times in 37 games in his debut season (2003/04) and hit double figures in five more seasons,including his final season when he scored 17 times in 30 appearances.
Kanu hit double figures just twice in 12 seasons in the league while Odemwingie also made it twice in his first two seasons.
Martins scored 11 goals in 33 games in his debut season and was just a goal shy of 10 the following season and two short in his third season.
Ekoku also hit double figures twice in the eight seasons he played in the competition while Ighalo did it only once,scoring 16 times in 37 appearances in his debut season (2015/16).
Iheanacho is set to join the illustrious group on his sixth season. The Leicester City forward has scored 30 goals in 136 appearances so far to become the seventh Nigerian top scorer in the competition and with six games to go,he could overtake Odemwingie who scored 36 times in 129 games.
Aiyegbeni tops the chart with 95 goals in 252 games followed by Kanu who scored 54 times in 273 appearances. Efan Ekoku is third with 53 goals from 158 games while Odemwingie featured in 129 games and scored 36 times.
