In-form Kelechi Iheanacho will be hoping for lightening to strike twice when he files out against Manchester United in a Premier League Matchweek 36 fixture Tuesday evening at Old Trafford.
The Nigerian international scored twice and provided an assist when the Foxes sent the Red Devils packing from the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage last March and all eyes will be on the hottest striker in England in the last 72 days to score his 11th Premier League goal in his last 11 games since March 3, 2021 when he rescued a point for Leicester City against Burnley at Turf Moor.
Iheanacho has gone on to score nine more goals and will be looking to fire the Foxes back to winning ways after they lost 4-2 to relegation threatened Newcastle United last weekend at the King Power stadium.
The 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner has scored three times and bagged two assists against Manchester United and will be eyeing his second Premier League goal and assist at Old Trafford to repeat his heroics of September 10, 2016 when he provided an assist for Kevin De Bruyne before firing what ended up as the winner for Manchester City in a 2-1 Premier League win.
Iheanacho has proved not just to be a goalscorer and Foxes gaffer, Brendan Rodgers has managed to eke out huge improvement in his creative skill in and around the box.
That makes him an interesting proposition when it comes to the player assist market for this game which should produce goals. Iheanacho has created 16 chances for his team-mates in his last seven matches, including grabbing an assist in two of his last three.
Iheanacho will be making his 125th appearance for the Foxes in all competitions if he features Tuesday night. He has played 93 times in the Premier League and today’s game will make it his 94th. He has scored 38 goals in all competitions and bagged 19 assists since he joined the club from Manchester City in the 2017/18 season.
Overall, the Nigerian will be gunning for his 140th Premier League appearance tonight and his 33rd goal and 16th assist.
