Nigerian international forward, Kelechi Iheanacho is set to make history of some sort if he scores against Chelsea tonight at Stamford Bridge.
The Super Eagles star is yet to score against the west London side in nine appearances in all competitions and the 24 year old forward will be looking forward to adding Chelsea to the list of top London sides including Arsenal, Tottenham, West Ham, Crystal Palace and relegated Fulham he has scored against since he started playing in the topflight in England.
The 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner has scored 11 times in 23 appearances for Leicester City this term with 10 of the goals coming in his last 10 games.
Interestingly, the Nigerian has has scored a Premier League goal on six different days of the week, with Tuesday the only day on which he’s failed so far.
If he scores in this game, he’ll be the first player in Premier League history to score on all seven days of the week within a single season.
Iheanacho scored his first two goals of the ongoing season on a Wednesday, scoring the opener in the Foxes 2-0 defeat of Fulham at Craven Cottage in February before rescuing a point off a Wilfred Ndidi assist for Brendan Rodgers’ side in the 1-1 draw against Burnley at Turf Moor at the start of March.
The Nigerian was on song again three days later, that is Saturday March 6 when he restored parity for his side before Daniel Amartey headed in an 87th minute winner in a 2-1 defeat of their host,Brighton at the Amex stadium.
The holy Bible says God rested on Sunday during the creation of the earth and all that are therein but Iheanacho chose the day to score his first Premier League hat-trick in the Foxes’5-0 demolition of Sheffield United at the King Power stadium on March 14.
The Nigeria international chose Sunday again (April 11) to score his first Premier league goal of the new month in the 3-2 loss at the London stadium to West Ham United.
Exactly 11 days later,precisely on Thursday April 22 Iheanacho and Leicester City bounced back from the loss in London to spank visiting West Brom 3-0 at the King power stadium.
Iheanacho was the hero of the day four days later (Monday) as he assisted and scored the winner when the Foxes came from a goal down to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 before scoring a consolation goal 11 days ago as the Foxes surprsingly lost 4-2 to then relegation threatened Newcastle at the King Power stadium.
