Former Nigerian international Victor Ikpeba has said in-form KRC Genk striker Paul Onuachu will still come good for the Super Eagles.
Onuachu is currently Nigeria’s most prolific striker in Europe having scored 19 goals in 19 appearances for Genk in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League in the ongoing season.
Ikpeba who starred for Liege in the Belgian topflight during his active days says Onuachu needs to keep working hard while Nigerians need to be patient for the striker to deliver for the Eagles.
“Onuachu has been in very good form in Belgium and I think we need to be patient with him to deliver in the Super Eagles,” begins the forward.
“There is always a lot of pressure when you come to play for the national team which can be doubled for strikers. I remember I wasn’t scoring when I initially came into the Eagles too but the pressure was less because as a winger, I wasn’t really expected to score but to create chances for the main strikers to score while I try to take the few chances that comes to me.
“So I expect us to be patient with Onuachu and not condemn him. On his part, he needs to keep working hard as he has been doing and I think with time he will start scoring for the national team too.”
