‘I’m convinced Osimhen will do great things’, Says Giordano, ex-Napoli striker

Former Napoli striker, Bruno Giordano has revealed that he is convinced that Victor Osimhen will still go ahead to do great things for the Italian Serie A club-side.

But that is after Giordano expressed his displeasure with the transfer fee Napoli paid Lille for Osimhen, questioning why he was more expensive than Erling Haaland.

The Partenopei spent €80m to sign the Nigerian international while Borussia Dortmund paid €20m to secure Haaland from Red Bull Salzburg in January of the year 2020.

“The price of an attacker depends on the market and the demands the player has,” Giordano told La Gazzetta dello Sport during an interview as per Spazionapoli.

“I don’t know if Osimhen is worth so much. I know Haaland cost less and so, it is logical that the square should question itself given the high expectations surrounding Victor who is only 22-years old.”

Meanwhile, Osimhen has had to deal with a range of issues such as injury, suspension and coronavirus making him score only five goals in 22 games in all competitions.

Giordano is, however, convinced that the Super Eagles attacking sensation will deliver for the Parthenopeans and even went on to make mention of some of his qualities.

“He has different characteristics from the other Napoli strikers and this season, his growth has been held back by all the injuries he has had,” Giordano continued.

“He is very fast, hits well with his head and knows how to give depth to the team. I am convinced that already in this championship final, he will be able to do good things.

“So, let’s talk about the player and no longer about market valuations”. Osimhen did go on to do something good by scoring in Napoli’s 2-0 win over Sampdoria on Sunday.

The centre-forward was handed a starting role in the Serie A encounter, spearheading the attack and he made a key impact by netting Napoli’s second goal in the 87th minute.

Osimhen who saw full action made two key passes and won five aerial contests after which he took to the social media to write: “We keep fighting @sscnapoli,” he tweeted.
