In-form Super Eagles winger Moses Simon seems to be eager to help Nigeria win the two 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games against Benin Republic and Lesotho later this month.
The Nantes of France forward who has scored two goals in his last four ligue 1 outings seems ready to transfer his goalscoring form to the international stage after posting on his social media handle the promo material made by the Nigeria Football Federation revealing the dates for the double header in Port Novo (Benin Republic) and Lagos.
Simon will be hoping to help the Super Eagles return to winning ways after Gernot Rohr’s side lost one and drew three of the four games they played last year. The results ensured the team dropped one step from 35 to 36 in the world in February’s FIFA Rankings.
The team won nine and lost just thrice in the 14 games they played in 2019 culminating in a bronze medal win at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The Nantes forward will be hoping for a return to pre-2020 form for the Super Eagles and knows his recent rich vein of form at Nantes can help the Nigeria senior national team secure a place in the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to hold in 2022 in Cameroun.
Simon has made 33 appearances for Nigeria and has scored five goals with his last goal coming two years ago in the 3-1 defeat of Seychelles in an African Cup of Nations qualifying game played at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba in March 2019.
