Inter Milan coach, Antonio Conte has warned his players to be wary of in-form Simeon ‘Simy’ Nwankwo ahead of their Serie A clash with Crotone at the Stadio Ezio Scida on Saturday.
Nigerian striker, Simy broke his fellow compatriot, Obafemi Martins’Â Serie A goal record when his side, Crotone beat Parma 4-3 at the Stadio Ennio Tardini last weekend.
Simy now has 29 Serie A goals across three seasons in 77 appearances for Crotone, beating Martins’ record of 28 for most scored in the Italian top-flight by a Nigerian.
Thanks to his double, Simy has 19 Serie A goals in the 2020/21 campaign, two better than Yakubu Ayegbeni as Nigeria’s top scorer in a single top-five European League season.
The Nerazzurri can win the Serie A title this weekend if they beat Crotone at home on Saturday and Atalanta fail to win their own match away at Sassuolo on Sunday.
“My players know we’ll have to play like Inter come Saturday. If we go there thinking we can take the game lightly, we will be in for a nasty surprise,” Conte said at a press conference.
“We respect Crotone and what they are doing, they will be motivated especially with Simy as their striker and would want to prove they deserve to remain in the Serie A.”
