‘It’s not yet over’, Moses Simon optimistic Nantes will escape relegation

Nigeria winger Moses Simon will be looking to help his French side Nantes retain their Ligue 1 status as they take on Ligue 2 promotion seekers, Tolouse today.

The game will see Simon travel with Nantes to the Stadium Municipal home ground of Tolouse for the first leg of the relegation playoffs.

Nantes finished 18th on the 20-team Ligue 1 table in the regular season and will engage Tolouse who finished third in Ligue 2 in a two-legged playoff to determine which of the two sides will play in the Ligue 1 next season.

A final day 1-2 home loss to Montpellier had condemned Nantes to the playoffs as they finished with 40 points, one less than Brest who finished 17th on the log. Prior to that last game, Nantes had recorded four back-to-back wins over Strasbourg, Brest, Bordeaux and Dijon following a surge of great form.

Moses Simon who was named Nantes’ player of the year last season will be looking to help the side return to that form for them to retain their topflight status in his second consecutive season at the club.

The 25-year old Super Eagles star has been a regular feature for Nantes this season making 33 Ligue 1 appearances with six goals and five assists to his credit.

Simon is optimistic of Nantes survival having earlier Twitted thus: “We know it’s not over yet. We have two fights to go. Keep believing.”

It’s time for the Nigerian winger and Nantes to walk the talk against Tolouse.
