Iwobi Eyeing First EPL Goal In 16 Months …Set to make 40th League Appearance for the Toffees

Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi will be seeking to score his first Premier League goal in 16 months when Everton play Wolves at the Molineux tonight.

The Nigerian has not scored in the competition since September 1,2019 when he headed in the second goal to restore Everton’s advantage in the 3-2 defeat of Wolves at Goodison Park and the former Arsenal star will be hoping for lightning to strike twice against the Midlands team.

If he scores against Wolves tonight to end his barren run infront of goals,it will be the fourth time in the Premier League the Nigerian will have scored twice against the same team after Watford,Burnley and Crystal Palace.

The Super Eagles star will also be gunning for his 40th Premier League appearance for Everton since he made his debut in the competition for the Toffees in the 2-0 loss to Aston Villa in August 2019.

Iwobi missed Everton’s last league game in the 0-1 home loss against West Ham United on New Year Day due to injury but returned to feature in the 2-1 FA Cup win against Rotherham United last weekend.

The game will also be the Nigerian international’s 140th overall Premier League appearance since he made his debut in Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat of Swansea at the Liberty stadium at the end of October 2015.

Iwobi has scored only one league goal and two assists in 39 appearances overall for Everton across two seasons but has totaled 12 goals and 18 assists overall from his days with Arsenal.

The 24-year old has been in good form under manager Carlo Ancelotti who has been able to make the best use of the Nigerian internationals’ versatility when starring for Everton.

Everton are 7th on the league table with 29 points while Wolves sit in the 13th position with 22 points.
