IWOBI EYES FIRST FA CUP GOAL IN TWO YEARS

By Sulaiman Alao

IWOBI – Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi will be targeting his first FA Cup goal in two years when he files out for Everton against Tottenham Hotspur today at the Goodison Park.

Iwobi scored his only FA Cup goal way back in January 2019 netting Arsenal’s third goal in the 82nd minute in the 3-0 win against Blackpool. And if the Nigerian gets on the scoresheet today, it will also be his first FA Cup goal for Everton.

Today’s tie will be Iwobi’s second FA Cup game for the Toffees but his 13th overall in the competition having previously made 11 outings while with the Gunners.

The 24-year old is yet to score or bag an assist against Tottenham in his past eight encounters recording two wins, three draws and three losses while clocking 429minutes against the side.

Interestingly too, today’s tie will be Iwobi’s first FA Cup outing against Spurs with his previous eight outings being seven EPL and one EFL Cup games.
