Iwobi Seeks End To Unwanted Record Against Man City

Nigeria and Everton FC midfielder Alex Iwobi will be desperate to end an unwanted personal record against a record-breaking Manchester City team that will visit Goodison Park tonight seeking for their 10th straight win in 2021 in all competitions and 12th Premier League win in a row.

Iwobi has faced the Citizens seven times in all competitions with six coming in the Premier League and one in the League Cup. The Nigerian has however not secured a win in any of the games, losing four times in the Premier League and once in the League Cup.

The Super Eagles star helped Arsenal to a 2-2 draw at the Etihad stadium in his first game against the Manchester-based club in May 2016 and was involved in another 2-2 draw albeit for the last 13 minutes at the Emirates stadium in April 2017.

Iwobi has lost the four other games in the competition against Manchester City including the 3-1 loss at the Goodison Park in September 2019,his first and only game so far against tonight’s foes since he switched Arsenal for Everton in the summer of 2019.

The Nigeria international will also be hoping to get back to the starting line for his 12th start this season in 20 appearances after he was left on the bench as an unused substitute in the Toffees’ 2-0 loss to a Josh Maja-inspired Fulham team last weekend.

He has scored just once and provided two assists so far this term while overall he has scored 13 times and provided 18 assists in 144 Premier League games since he made his debut in the competition in October 2015.
