…Targets first goal against Man City in nine games
Nigeria forward Alex Iwobi will be hoping to end his FA Cup goal drought when Everton host Manchester City this evening in a quarterfinal tie at Goodison Park.
The Toffees star has scored just once in 13 appearances in the competition with the goal coming over two years ago, precisely on January 5,2019 when he scored Arsenal’s third goal in a 3-0 demolition of Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.
The Nigerian international midfielder will also be seeking to score his first goal in nine appearances against Pep Guardiola’s side. He has played eight times in all competitions against the side from the blue half of Manchester, starting five of the games but has neither scored nor provided any assist.
Interestingly, Iwobi is yet to feature against the Cityzens in the competition and he will now be hoping to play against the current Premier League leaders
The nearest the Super Eagles star came to featuring against Manchester City was in Arsenal’s 2-1 extra-time win at Wembley Stadium in April 2017 at the semi-final stage.
The Gunners would go on to win the trophy that year, defeating Chelsea 2-1 in the final with Nigeria’s Victor Moses red carded for diving.
Iwobi has featured once against Manchester City this term, playing for 69 minutes in a 3-1 defeat at Goodison Park last month.
