Nigeria midfielder Alex Iwobi will be seeking for his third goal in 12 appearances against Chelsea when he and Everton visit Stamford Bridge Monday evening for a Matchweek 28 Premier League tie.
Iwobi has scored just once in seven Premier League games against the West London side and scored his second in Arsenal’s Europa League final loss at the Baku Olympic Stadium in Azerbaijan in May 2019.He has also won four times, drew once and lost twice to the former Premier League champions.
The Super Eagle will thus be seeking for his fifth win in the competition and seventh in all competitions tonight. He will also be seeking for his second league goal of this campaign to help the Toffees to victory. Twice the former Arsenal player has scored against the London side and on both ocassions his side lost.
First was in the Premier League where he scored the second goal to draw Arsenal level before Marcos Alonso netted for a 3-2 Chelsea win in opening game of the 2018/2019 season.
The second was in the Europa League final in Baku in May 2019. The Nigerian was subbed on and scored the Gunners’ only goal the 4-1 demolition.
Iwobi will also be eyeing a league double against the London Blues for the first time in six seasons. He was in the Toffess squad that defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Goodison Park last December.
The Nigerian will be looking forward to making his seventh start in eight appearances against the Stamford Bridge outfit tonight and 14th in 24 games for the Toffees this term.
He has scored once and provided two assists so far this term and will be hoping to make his 58th appearance for Everton in all competitions,49 of which will be in the Premier League where he scored just twice and bagged two assists in 2,778 minutes of football.
Overall, Iwobi has made 148 appearances in the league and has scored 13 times and bagged 18 assists. He has fired 167 shots with 68 on target and has a 41% shooting accuracy.
