Nigerian international attacking midfielder Alex Iwobi will be desperate to score his first goal against Tottenham Hotspur on 10th attempt in all competitions when Jose Mourinho’s team visit the Goodison Park Friday evening.
Iwobi has featured nine times against the north London side,seven of which came in the Premier League.
The Super Eagle has not only failed to score,he also has not provided any assist with an identical record of three wins,three draws and three losses as his scorecard.
The last time the 24 year old featured against Tottenham in the Premier League was in the Toffees’ 1-0 loss at the Tottenham stadium last July.
The Nigerian missed the sides first meeting this term in North London where Carlo Ancelotti’s men ran away with all three points courtesy of a 1-0 win.
Iwobi however featured in the 5-4 extra time win in the FA Cup last February.
While anticipating a historic double win for Everton in the Premier League over the visitors,Iwobi will also be hoping to be back among the goals,three months after he scored his first and only Premier League goal of the season for the Toffees to bring his total to two in 51 games in the competition for the club since he joined in the summer of 2019 from Arsenal.
Iwobi will also be targeting to make his 105th start in 152 games in the competition since he made his first start in the Gunners 2-0 defeat of Everton at Goodison Park in March 2016. It was in that game the Nigerian scored the first of his 13 goals so far in the competition.
The former Gunner has won 71 of the 151 Premier League games he has featured in till date and has bagged 18 assists. He has fired 169 shots with 68 on target and has a 40% shooting accuracy.
